I really appreciate this post. I have been looking all over for Hotels Athens Greece information! Thank goodness I found it on Bing. You’ve made my day! Thank you again
I’ve been exploring for a bit for any high-quality articles or weblog posts on Athens . I ultimately stumbled upon http://hotelsathensgreece.org/. Great info.
Today, I went to the beachfront in athens, with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my four year old daughter and said “You can hear the aegean sea if you put this to your ear.” Indeed it was.
I am leaving tomorrow Athens and I have to say I am shocked and very disappointed. I arrived in Athens airport on Wednesday and took a cab from the airport to Sintagma square. The driver sat behind the wheel like a maniac and eventually robbed me. This guy was talking some gibberish that I couldn’t understand and was very rude and mean against me. The drive to the hotel was half an hour and the driver asked for 60 euros. When I asked him why he replied in a hostile attitude again in gibberish, so I decided to pay him and later complain to the police. The first thing I did was to tell the hotel manager and he called the police. He told me that the police department was ‘inadequate’ to deal with this and that I should the next day and press charges. I went the next morning first thing and after an hour waiting an officer agreed to talk to me. He told me that I should come the next day and that it’s very difficult to find the taxi driver that robbed me. So I went back the next day and after waiting for another one and a half hours another officer said that they are closing for the weekend and that I should come back on Monday, though I told him I was leaving on Sunday.
Anyway the hotel was nice I’m not complaining for that.
Another thing I noticed was too much garbage, dog pooh practically every two feet on each pavement and lots of people annoying everybody for any reason. Every time I left the hotel there were always and everywhere – and I mean everywhere! – drug addicts that were begging or shooting right there in front of everybody, without a single soul doing something. Police was everywhere too but I couldn’t quite understand how could there be armed schwarzenegger-swats everywhere and so many drugs at the same time and place. The reception clerk couldn’t explain this to me either. He blaimed the crisis, the politicians, the US, etc. Is there one single person in this country that doesn’t hate Americans? The answer to my question came earlier this evening when a large group of neo-nazis came right in front of the parliament and demonstated. I’m sorry I thought I was in the country that gave birth to philosophy and democracy. But I suppose that was 3000 years ago. Todays Greece? A place of angry thieves, drug addicts and nazis.
Sheryl, sorry to hear about that. You are right, some Greek people deserve your words, but some not. I met a lot of warm people in Athens and they made my vacation beautiful. Maybe nowadays, with all the economical problems they are facing, the Athenians are acting somehow strange, especially the police…
However, unless you are very familiar with Greece, planning Greek island holidays can result in some unpleasant surprises.
